  I'm not Russian, but we decided to give this place a try as we were in the neighborhood.  Started with the Norwegian herring.  My grandmother is of Swedish descent, and used to serve pickled herring at various holiday events.....I always loved it.  I've had many varieties of pickled herring, this one was the best I've had by far.  The fish was tender, the red onions accented nicely.  I've never had it with peas, but while in Rome...so I went with it.  We also had borscht soup, lightly spiced with carrots, beets , meat and sour cream.  I prefer a more robust borscht, but this one was still good.  Hubby ordered some sort of thinly sliced meat with horseradish, meat was tender and cold, horseradish wasn't overpowering, it accented the meat nicely.  I had the cheese pierogis (can't remember the Russian name from the menu), and hubby had the cabbage ones.  Mine were similar in flavor to a cheese blitz, which surprised me, sweet.  I adored hubby's.  The cabbage was grilled with an oniony, caramelized zest to it.  
  
  Service was good, we didn't get drinks until the end of the meal which was strange.
  
  We left full.

  Nice looking restaurant with good silverware and food that is colorful and well-plated. However, food is fairly pricey, cooking time is a bit long, food takes a while to be served (even items high in moisture were only some-what warm when they reached our table), and flavors are bland. Here are my thoughts on the items I tried:
  
  Pot of tea: Looks nice with a blossoming flower, however the flavor of the tea is extremely light.
  
  Baked basa fillet: Tender and juicy. Was seasoned alright but portion size was very small
  
  Meat blintzes: Meat was very bland and the texture wasn't great. The crepe itself was very generic in flavor and didn't have much elasticity or chewiness to it.
  
  Hungarian Goulash: Meat was tender with a very light sauce and served with lightly seasoned rice.
  
  Shrimp scampi: Buttery and slightly sweet, but not much else in terms of flavor. Portion size was also small for the price charged.
  
  Siberian Pelmeni: The dumpling skin was alright and the meat filling was a bit bland. Didn't seem too different from grocery store items.
  
  Overall, the food is presented nicely but the actual flavors, texture, and experience is underwhelming. For its price, I didn't find it to be a good value -- but maybe the majority of the business is for wedding banquets and birthdays rather than small group dining.

  Tasty food. Very delicious bread, made there. I was surprised various menu-in slavian food. 4 stars because interior is look like "ussr", very dark and not comfortable for me. Russian food is enough to make the atmosphere. Interior can be more modern.

  We came on Thursday for dinner, it was only one waiter available, who was running and sweating like crazy, we had to wait for almost 45 min to get a piece of bread...... waiter said that the kitchen staff was not able to handle the volume!!!!! There were 20 people in the restaurant. Not 100. Service was terrible, typical old soviet way of serving people!!!! Food is good there, but it's not worth waiting for almost an hour to get bread or get the order taken... we were almost ready to walk away.

  Amazing food. The fish tasted very fresh. I'll definitely be finding excuses to make my way back to this hidden gem.
